Directions

Revlimid 25 mg is an analog of thalidomide and pomalidomide, immunomodulator drug that has anti-angiogenic and anti-cancer properties. Revlimid is available in the form of capsules (25 mg each) for oral intake. Every capsule contains an active substance called Lenalidomide.

The drug is prescribed for the treatment of multiple myeloma.
This is a type of cancer that affects certain kind of leukocytes (plasma cells). The cells are accumulated in the bone marrow and start to divide out of control, which can damage the bone tissue and kidneys.

In achieving the treatment response, the signs and symptoms of diseases significantly reduce or even disappear for a period of time.

For effective treatment, Revlimid 25 mg must be taken together with the other drugs: anti-inflammatory medication Dexamethasone, chemotherapy drug melphalan and immunosupressant prednisone.

You will take these drugs in the beginning of treatment, and then keep using only Revlimid.

Lenalidomide can stop the deterioration of signs and symptoms of multiple myeloma and makes the disease stop for a while. Doctors leave positive feedbacks about Revlimid, as it proved to be effective in the treatment of myeloma.

Revlimid 25 mg is also prescribed for the treatment of mantle cell lymphoma and myelodysplastic syndrome.

Principle of action

Revlimid 25 mg has an anti-tumor, anti-angiogenic, pro-erythropoetic and immunomodulating action. It means that the drug affects your immune system and directly affects your disease. Lenalidomide can suppress the development and replication of cancer cells and prevent the damage of blood vessels by blocking the migration and adhesion of endothelial cells and formation of micro vessels. It inhibits the formation of anti-inflammatory cytokines. The drug stimulates and strengthens the cell immunity and increases the level of T-cells that kill the cancer cells.

Way of use

Revlimid must be prescribed the oncologists, experienced in the treatment of multiple myeloma, myelodysplastic syndromes or mantle cell lymphoma. Always follow the doctor’s orders and the instruction for Lenalidomide; if you’re not sure, ask all the questions interesting you.

Your doctor will define the dosage of Revlimid 25 mg and other drugs, if you require combination treatment.

Revlimid 25 mg should be taken on certain days for 4 weeks (28 days). These 28 days are called treatment cycle. After the end of treatment, you will start the new cycle over 28 days.

A precondition for the treatment with Lenalidomide is the use of contraceptives, as the drug can harm an unborn baby. If you can get pregnant, the doctor should prescribe you effective means of contraception. You’ll have to make a pregnancy test every four weeks (including 4 weeks after the end of treatment) to exclude the possibility of pregnancy.
