Bosentan 125 mg falls within the group of drugs known as ERAs (endothelin receptor antagonists). Bosentan is intended for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension (too high pressure inside the blood vessels in the lungs).

The common initial dose is 62.5 mg twice a day (in the morning and at bedtime) for 1 month. After a month, the dosage should be raised to the usual maintenance dose of 125 mg twice a day. The drug can be taken irrespective of the mealtime. Bosentan must be applied consistently.

Bosentan 125 mg is considered safe and well-tolerated in adult people suffering from PAH caused by congenital heart defect or Eisenmenger’s syndrome. Moreover, functional class and 6MWT improved and this effect has been kept for about two years of Bosentan therapy.
The use of this drug can cause severe adverse effects, such as:

Liquid retention and swollen ankles. Bosentan 125 mg can make your body to retain a lot of water, which is why your limbs may be swollen. Inform your doctor if you notice swelling of your limbs, which isn’t caused by the weight gain, or if you notice breathing problems.

Low sperm count. Some patients using Bosentan may notice lower sperm counts, which can reduce your ability to conceive a child. Inform your doctor if the question of fertility bothers you.

Anemia (a condition where the patients don’t have enough healthy red blood cells). Your doctor will make the blood tests to check your red blood cells while you’re taking Bosentan.
