The remedy Xarelto 20mg is used not only for the therapy of various diseases, but also for their prevention. The main indications for the prescription of a medicinal product are:
prevention of venous thromboembolic complications in people who underwent various orthopedic operations to replace a joint;
prevention of acute cerebrovascular accident, accompanied by sudden loss of consciousness and paralysis, as well as clogging of blood vessels with gas bubbles and other elements brought by blood and lymph in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation;
acute disturbance of cerebral blood flow;
violation of the function of the heart, when it is not able to provide full blood flow to organs and tissues;
endocrine disease, which is characterized by a chronic increase in blood sugar due to absolute or relative deficiency of insulin – the hormone of the pancreas;
the formation of thrombi in the deep veins of the lower limbs;
clogging the pulmonary artery or its branches with thrombi;
prevention of the resumption of deep vein thrombosis, as well as pulmonary embolism.

How to use Xarelto 20mg.

For patients after surgery to replace the knee or hip joint, the required amount of Xarelto 20mg medication is 40 mg per day. People need to take two tablets, the dosage of which is 20 mg once a day. The remedy begins to take a few hours after the end of the operation to replace the joint. The duration of therapy in the case of knee replacement is 10 days, and with the hip joint about a month.
For the following groups of people, the recommended dosage of the remedy is 20 mg once a day:
patients who have slightly pronounced deviations in the normal functioning of the kidneys;
patients older than 75 years.
Before the direct course of treatment using this remedy should evaluate the functionality of the kidneys. Such manipulation can be performed by calculating the clearance of creatine by the Cockroft-Gault method. This method is used not only before the beginning of therapy, but also in the middle and after its termination. An exception for performing the procedure is for people suffering from severe renal failure. This category of patients is strictly prohibited from using the remedy Xarelto 20mg.
